Pellet Stoves

A pellet stove gives you steady, thermostat-controlled heat from compact wood pellets, with no logs to split or stack. Our collection covers seven ComfortBilt models, six freestanding stoves and one fireplace insert, rated to heat from 2,200 up to 3,000 sq. ft. with hoppers from 40 lb to 80 lb. They suit homeowners heating a main living area, a cabin or an older house with an unused fireplace. Prices start from $1,899, and every stove ships by freight from the manufacturer.

How to Choose the Right Pellet Stove

Start with the space you need to heat, then match the stove to it. Every model here lists a maximum heating area, from 2,200 sq. ft. on the HP50S to 3,000 sq. ft. on the HP61 and HP75C. Treat those figures as best-case ratings. ComfortBilt rates the HP21 for 2,400 sq. ft. "under mild conditions," and the same logic applies to any stove. If your house is drafty or older, your winters are cold, your ceilings are high or your floor plan is broken up, size up rather than down.

  • Heat output (BTU per hour): More output warms a room faster and holds temperature on the coldest nights. Our range tops out at 43,298 BTU/hr on the HP75C.
  • Hopper size: The hopper is the pellet bin. A bigger one means fewer refills. Hoppers here run from 40 lb to 80 lb.
  • Controls: Look for several heat settings, a remote and a programmable thermostat if you want the stove to run on a schedule. The HP22 has a programmable 7-day thermostat, and the HP21's thermostat is programmable from 61–82°F.
  • Style: Finishes include black, bronze, burgundy, cream white, arctic white, green and rustic brown, and several models offer stainless steel trim.

If you don't have a fireplace to work with, start with our freestanding pellet stoves.

Freestanding Pellet Stove or Fireplace Insert?

A freestanding stove sits on noncombustible floor protection and can go in almost any room where you can run a vent. It's the flexible choice for basements, cabins, additions and open living areas. Six of our seven models are freestanding pellet stoves.

A pellet stove insert slides into an existing masonry fireplace and turns an open, drafty hearth into a controlled heat source. The HP22i is our insert. It heats up to 2,800 sq. ft., holds 47 lb of pellets, runs up to 18 hours per burn and comes with a shroud, ash vacuum and remote. Measure your fireplace opening's width, height and depth, and compare them with the manufacturer's required dimensions before you order.

Either way, pellet stoves vent through dedicated pellet vent pipe rather than relying on an open chimney. Venting rules, clearances to combustibles and permit requirements vary by town, so plan on a qualified installer and follow the owner's manual and local code.

Pellets, Power and Everyday Care

All of these stoves burn wood pellets. Buy pellets made for pellet stoves, store the bags off the floor somewhere dry, and skip any that have gotten damp or crumbled to dust, since moisture and fines cause poor burns and auger jams.

Pellet stoves need electricity to run the auger, blower and ignition, so think about a backup power plan if winter outages are common where you live. For routine care:

  • Empty the ash pan and scrape the burn pot regularly, more often in peak season.
  • Wipe the glass only when the stove is cool.
  • Use an ash vacuum, not a household vacuum. The HP22i includes one.
  • Have the vent and blower cleaned and inspected every heating season.

Our ComfortBilt Lineup

Every stove in this collection is made by ComfortBilt, so you're comparing one consistent family of stoves instead of sorting through unrelated brands. Most models offer five power settings, and several include a remote control. See the full lineup on our ComfortBilt brand page.

Shipping, Delivery and Returns

ComfortBilt pellet stoves ship by freight directly from the manufacturer within 3–10 business days, starting the business day after you order. They typically arrive 6–10 business days after dispatch, and the carrier and delivery date are confirmed after your order is placed. Orders of $200 or more ship free within the contiguous United States, so every stove here qualifies.

  • Plan to unload: Freight deliveries are tailgate deliveries. The carrier brings the stove to your address, and you're responsible for unloading it from the truck. With shipping weights from 240 lb to 373 lb, have two or more people or a loading dock ready.
  • Damage: If your stove arrives damaged or defective, email info@furnetta.com within 7 days of delivery with photos of the item and packaging. We'll send a part, repair or replace it, or issue a full refund at no cost to you.
  • Returns: We accept returns within 60 days of delivery for unused items in their original packaging. Opened or used products are non-refundable. You pay shipping both ways, the original shipping cost is deducted from your refund, and a 20% restocking fee applies.
  • Cancellations: You can cancel free of charge any time before your order ships.

Frequently asked questions

How long do 40 pounds of pellets last in a pellet stove?
It depends mostly on the heat setting. Our HP21 has a 40-lb hopper that runs up to 16 hours on low. Higher settings burn through the same load much faster. If you want fewer refills, choose a bigger hopper: the HP22-N holds 80 lb and is rated for up to a 30-hr burn time. Pellet quality and how cold it is outside also affect how long a load lasts.
What is the best pellet stove insert?
The best insert is the one that fits your fireplace opening and is sized for your home. In our range that's the ComfortBilt HP22i. It heats up to 2,800 sq. ft., puts out 9,696–40,689 BTU/hr at 80.5% efficiency, and holds 47 lb of pellets for up to 18 hours per burn. It's EPA and CSA certified and comes with a shroud, ash vacuum and remote.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a pellet stove?
Pellet stoves feed fuel automatically, hold a set temperature with a thermostat, burn cleaner than an open fire and use compact, easy-to-stack fuel. On the downside, they need electricity to run, so they stop during a power outage unless you have backup power. They also need regular ash and burn-pot cleaning, a dry place to store pellets, and professional venting.
How much does it cost to install a pellet stove?
We can't quote installation, because the cost depends on your home. The main factors are the vent route through a wall or roof, whether you need floor protection or a fireplace liner, local permit fees and labor rates in your area. An insert going into an existing masonry fireplace is a different job from a freestanding stove in a new spot. Get quotes from a qualified local installer.
What size pellet stove do I need?
Match the stove's rated heating area to the space you want to warm, and leave room for cold climates or drafty homes. Our models are rated from 2,200 sq. ft. on the HP50S to 3,000 sq. ft. on the HP61 and HP75C. Treat these as best-case figures. ComfortBilt rates the HP21 for 2,400 sq. ft. under mild conditions, so size up if your winters are harsh.
How long does pellet stove delivery take?
ComfortBilt pellet stoves ship by freight from the manufacturer within 3–10 business days and typically arrive 6–10 business days after dispatch. The carrier and delivery date are confirmed after you order. Orders of $200 or more ship free within the contiguous United States. Deliveries are tailgate only, so you'll need two or more people or a loading dock to unload the stove.
Can I return a pellet stove?
Yes. You can return it within 60 days of delivery if it's unused and in its original packaging. Opened or used products are non-refundable. You pay shipping both ways, the original shipping cost is deducted, and a 20% restocking fee applies. If your stove arrives damaged or defective, email us within 7 days of delivery with photos, and we'll send a part, repair or replace it, or issue a full refund at no cost to you.
